As the seasons change, so too should your approach to enjoying the beauty all around you. You don’t have to wait for an occasion to enjoy the warmer weather or the additional hours of sunlight. Start by incorporating your five senses.
- Scent: Find ways to appreciate the smells that are unique to the Spring and Summer months. I personally enjoy the smell that permeates the air after rain falls on hot concrete.
- Touch: Have a childlike curiosity for exploring naturally occurring textures and patterns. For me, that’s enjoying the sensation of a dandelion’s puffball.
- Sight: Bring your awareness to the rebirth happening around you. Behold the presence of newly emerging greenery or blossoms.
- Taste: Grab a seasonal treat and hone in on the different tastes and flavors. I enjoy fresh mango slices seasoned with chili and lime; these flavor combinations never disappoint.
- Sound: Be intentional about the sounds you listen to. For me, that’s listening to the sounds of birds singing and chirping.
Remember, it’s the little things we often find the most joys in. Enjoy yourself as you re-evaluate your sensory behaviors during the warmer months.
